      Love ICF!

      Pros

The staff are amazing and the most talented I've ever worked with; great growth opportunities, tons of support, and just overall a great place to work.

      Cons

They could be using more tools and systems for greater efficiency and collaboration. Also, benefits are average, and PTO isn't great.

Well intentioned but fails to deliver

      Pros

The people are friendly, helpful, and genuinely want to do a good job. It’s fairly easy to move around to different projects. Lots of training opportunities with LinkedIn learning and external training can be reimbursed. Upper management seems to have good intentions and will meet with employees in town halls to share vision and objectives and promote transparency. They seem to genuinely care about the employees.

      Cons

Pay is low compared to other tech consulting firms, especially bonuses. Sadly most employees know the only way to get their fair salary is to threaten to quit and get a counter offer. Benefits are expensive and coverage isn’t great. The plans have high deductibles and premiums. Upper management is a white boy’s club. They talk a lot about diversity but after a year of making it a top initiative there are no real changes, especially in the management layer. The company’s focus on hyper growth feels unsustainable given that most employees are 100% billable but expected to participate in BD at the senior, principal and management levels. The majority of BD is done by billable staff. People are bid as key personnel without checking with their managers and then are expected to immediately transition without any planning if a contract is won. Every division seems to operate differently and there are a lot of disparate processes.

      Career Mobility at a Cost

      Sep 1, 2021 - Associate

      Pros

Upward mobility and opportunity to grow and lead new initiatives, business development are great! As an early professional (especially out of undergrad) there are many opportunities to show your strengths and move up the ladder - but requires a high degree of individual motivation. Supportive, caring managers who see and utilize your skills, depending on team.

      Cons

Pay. Especially in higher cost of living markets. Pay is a big issue. Whereas project / position mobility exists, salary mobility and efforts to negotiate are quite the opposite. Hard to stay under these conditions in more expensive markets.

      Pros

Used to be an incredible place to work, but a combination of ICF undervaluing ICF Next (especially financially) & bad leadership (on many levels) have run it into the ground. Work with some of the most talented and amazing people.

      Cons

ICF Next office is extremely catty. Personal relationships greatly impact work, and if you don’t participate or aren’t bffs with the right people, you’re on the outs. Vastly underpaid & extremely overworked. Most of the great people have left, and they’re only replacing them with very junior staff who don’t know what they’ve gotten themselves into so they can take advantage. Insane timelines from clients that are agreed to by management and then become the standard. Allows no room for creativity, and programs have become recycled and tired. Management does not advocate for employees. Really sad to see such a great place and teams destroyed.

      Pros

Pay is good and there are plenty of opportunities to get involved in areas of interest … buuuut

      Cons

ICF is obsessed with billable hours and improving “utilization”, eliminating the human element of being an employee. You are very much expected to be a money making machine with little to no overhead. Also, ICF’s business model HEAVILY relies on copying and pasting old work, and when there isn’t anything to copy (which happens a lot) hours aren’t adjusted, so you end up working a lot of unpaid overtime to make up the difference and prevent charging to overhead. Therefore, a healthy work life balance is non existent. As a technical advisor, I highly advise that you don’t work here.

      Pros

Location, It is a job but never a career and don't expect to last!

      Cons

Ageist, Bullying and Executive Management Lies, Backstabbing... the worst company in my entire career. They fire you if you get old, expect people to do their job, or actually try to perform. If you just want to come to work and hide and try to collect a paycheck ... you may last but sooner or later they will notice you are in your 50s+ and make up a reason to fire you... Stay pretty and young and tell the ELT how pretty they are and how you like their cars... Really sick leadership. I think all the positive reviews are written by the ICF HR department.

This company bully its employees…Don’t go

      Pros

A big company that is good for new grad to stay for 1-2 years

      Cons

One year after I left this company, I realized how I was actually bullied during my time there. They give you work above 40 hrs and take overtime(till midnight, over weekends) for granted. One of my account lead once sent me emails at 11pm asking three different deliverables due throughout the night, 7am and 9am next morning. I worked extra hard and got a performance review score of 4.25/5 in the first year and 4.75/5 in the second year yet not get promoted. I heard if you pass 4 you should expect a promotion. But I didn’t. Now I figured - they discriminate. They fully make us of the fact that I am non-US citizen and would need extra effort in switching jobs. So they didn’t give me the deserved recognition base they can save money. They indeed bullied me because they can.

      Pros

This is a place you can grow with a lot of opportunities. Strong leaders, good vision, fun clients.

      Cons

To really get ahead, you need to work really hard. Sometimes work-life balance was difficult.
