Pros

Compensation and benefits are consistent with field.

Cons

Absolutely no work-life balance. Schedule each week reflects 45 hour work week, but realistically is closer to 60. 12-16 hour days are standard fare. Working on days off is also expected (especially in preparation for the never-ending threats of store visits by executives who never come) . Training and Development of Assistant Managers is virtually non-existent. Store Managers receive bonuses up to 30% of their annual salaries while working less than ASM's . ASM's get no bonus. SM's are also eligible for additional bonuses throughout the year which ASM's are excluded from. The sad thing is that the local job market is tapped out and opportunities are scarce - and the folks holding the purse strings know it.

Pros

managers can be friendly at times

Cons

Little to no training been working here for almost a year now there’s still something I don’t know every day. What was most difficult for me was being at registers as I was trained in two days by shadowing someone. There are so many situations and problems that will come up every day and you will learn something new! They never taught me about Kohl’s cash, how to read receipts, reprint or edit receipts. They schedule so little so when you do learn something there’s no chance of rehearsal because you come in three weeks later working at a different department.
