Cons
MAA is a business just like everything else. They are worried about the bottom line at the end of the day. There is nothing wrong with that because that is how the world works, but MAA tries to make everyone believe they are a small market company that is invested in it's employees and residents. In actuality MAA is just extremely good at selling their own brand to their employees. From the annual leadership conference to the divisional meetings they are constantly selling their brand to the managers and trying to get them to sell it to their associates. It's a successful model and would be great if the company practiced what it preached a little more in regards to how the business is run. It also seems that depending on which region or sub-region you're in could be run slightly differently. Although there is a broad set of guidelines within the company much of it is left to the determination of the SVP and RVP on how things should be handled. While this is necessary a greater focus from the home office on whether some policies fit into the MAA mission statement should be reviewed more to stay consistent as a company truly devoted to it's mission statement.
