Pros

There was an open atmosphere at Mercer. Because everyone was not in cubicles, you felt like you could turn to your other employees and have an open conversation. Also, it was easy to talk to your boss. Management was not but in some secret place on the second floor; instead, you direct team lead sat in a cubicle near you, and the upper management sat in offices around the cubicles. Also, the atmosphere was extremely low-key. There was close to no stress on the job, and although many of us chose to work overtime, it was definitely not ever required.

Cons

Although the position was low-key, sometimes I believe it was too low-key. For me, I like to have some structure in my job. Instead, we were given tasks to do without real deadlines. In addition, our boss would always roam the aisles of cubicles making sure we were "on task". Management expected us to do work 100% of the time. I personally know that if I try to work right after lunch or in the very early morning, I am not going to get anything done. Just give me that time to catch up on the news or sports instead.

Pros

-Trustworthy immediate colleagues -Good work/life balance and flexibility

Cons

-Little career pathing within company. Organization is extremely siloed, and cheap as they simply aren't interested in paying for small things to advance one's career like local industry conferences and events such as team holiday dinners that would have minimal impact on the company's bottom line. -Pay not aligned with skills or talent marketplace -One would think a benefits/career consultant would have decent pay and benefits. This is not the case
