Pros

There are really smart people at Mercer, there are opportunities to learn new things, we have interesting clients to work with.

Cons

Everything is constantly changing. Leadership turnover and complete pivots about every two years. Company does not always invest to the extent necessary in developing intellectual capital that is needed to do our jobs. Unless you can get a client to hire you to perform a service, you can't spend time to develop a draft deliverable, its difficult to sell vapor ware - sometimes an investment needs to be made that can then lead to more sales. The billable hour pressures are intense and constant. Our technology is maddening - out of date, slow because of the many security add-ons, severely restricted - I work in the health business and can't visit many of the websites I need to access to do my job - have to go to them on my private computer - frustrating.

Pros

-Trustworthy immediate colleagues -Good work/life balance and flexibility

Cons

-Little career pathing within company. Organization is extremely siloed, and cheap as they simply aren't interested in paying for small things to advance one's career like local industry conferences and events such as team holiday dinners that would have minimal impact on the company's bottom line. -Pay not aligned with skills or talent marketplace -One would think a benefits/career consultant would have decent pay and benefits. This is not the case
