Pros

* Non-management level co-workers were usually great * Open bar Holiday Party * Volunteer opportunities within the local community * If you had a good manager, you got "secret" performance bonuses * Benefits were good * Softball league * Great cafeteria * Located in the mid-size town of Norwood (not in a large city)

Cons

* Zero work life balance. I was expected to work until 7-7:30pm many nights with little to no notice; or I could leave the building and continue working from home. * Mandatory overtime, including working on weekends and holidays. I actually went to work on several Saturdays. * Vacation blackout during Open Enrollment or other "client specific" periods. It was a year-round struggle to get days off approved. * Unless you want to work on salary (no OT) and work 60+ hours a week, there is no career growth. A manager I had quit because her husband threatened to divorce her because she worked too much (stayed "after hours" all the time, worked at home, weekends, holidays, etc.). * Workload expectations are not realistic. Everyone is overworked all the time. Many people burnout after a few years, work at another company for a year or 2, and come back demanding a higher salary and a different team. If Mercer addressed the needs of its employees, this wouldn't happen as often. * Culture of abuse/fear. I filed a harassment complaint against my manager and was told by HR my claims "could not be corroborated." Everyone else on the team was too afraid to say anything, so no action was taken. I ended up quitting because I couldn't deal with my manager constantly telling me what a crappy employee I was while at the same time not providing the training I was literally begging for. * My manager also talked very negatively about team members to other team members and to people not even on the team. My manager was also very aggressive and not approachable at all. I cannot recall how many times I was asked "What the f*ck happened with <insert issue here>?" but it was very often. Extremely unprofessional, hostile work environment.

Pros

Remote flexibility, which is nice.

Cons

You will not get a raise and if you do, it'll be 1%. Managers will not help you with escalating issues, you're on your own. It'll be blamed on you. You'll work so much overtime you won't have a social life.
