Pros

Excellent benefits package. Some very talented and intelligent people. Great wide ranging client base.

Cons

People managers only interested in furthering their own careers, not those they manage. No career development, you can quickly reach your “ceiling” at Mercer and go no further. Focus very heavily on financials, not so much on client service - which is all being offshored to India so that’ll be great for the existing administrators!! Bonuses as an administrator are APPALLING!!! The worst I’ve ever had, especially for a firm that claims to be “no. 1 consulting firm” - don’t expect a pay rise either.

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and feedback. We are disappointed you did not have the meaningful professional experience that we endeavour to create for our colleagues. We take a great deal of pride in our culture, values and the career development of our employees and are sorry this didn’t come true for you. Future proofing our service offering so that we can offer best of breed service to our clients can be challenging, and we try to provide both stability for all of our colleagues while adapting to an environment that is ever-evolving and focused on the future of work. We will take on board your feedback and wish you the best.

Pros

-Trustworthy immediate colleagues -Good work/life balance and flexibility

Cons

-Little career pathing within company. Organization is extremely siloed, and cheap as they simply aren't interested in paying for small things to advance one's career like local industry conferences and events such as team holiday dinners that would have minimal impact on the company's bottom line. -Pay not aligned with skills or talent marketplace -One would think a benefits/career consultant would have decent pay and benefits. This is not the case
