Pros

I appreciated the inclusion of cab, meal, and insurance facilities, which were indeed valuable

Cons

Mercer is plagued with high levels of internal politics. They have a history of firing hardworking employees under the guise of cost-cutting, all while protecting their favorite sycophants. There is absolutely no job security—throughout 2024, they conducted layoffs in multiple waves, each time falsely assuring employees that there would be no more firings. For senior employees, it’s especially challenging to find new opportunities during these tough recessionary times. As for career growth, don’t expect promotions even after spending 3-5 years here unless you’re part of their inner circle of yes-men. This is not a place where talent and dedication are valued—only favoritism thrives. Think twice before joining Mercer.

Pros

-Trustworthy immediate colleagues -Good work/life balance and flexibility

Cons

-Little career pathing within company. Organization is extremely siloed, and cheap as they simply aren't interested in paying for small things to advance one's career like local industry conferences and events such as team holiday dinners that would have minimal impact on the company's bottom line. -Pay not aligned with skills or talent marketplace -One would think a benefits/career consultant would have decent pay and benefits. This is not the case
