Pros

- great office culture - people are amazing - office is lovely - teams are really smart & great to work with - Bar under the office is very fun on a thursday - generally a nice vibe due to the people

Cons

- pay rises are few and far between and when they are given they are so small they don't make a difference this has resulted in high staff turnover & loss of morale - promotions are also sparse because Dentsu makes it hard to get promoted and you have to jump through so much red tape - won't backfill roles so capacity is stretched in account teams - Finance process is a shambles - Dentsu are a publicly traded company so purse strings are tight and they won't spend on perks for staff - e.g. they wouldn't even put on a summer party for us which we always used to get before Dentsu bought us - Constant pressure to deliver more revenue and money is the number one focus for Dentsu - Other agencies seem to be performing much better so are getting way more perks & freebies

Pros

Merkle goes through a thoughtful process to hire people. As a result, they have really smart people who know their stuff. If you are early career, it is a great place to learn. Also, because they have such big clients, you earn lots of "street cred" as you build your resume. When you start interviewing for your next role, you get to brag about working with some of the largest brands in the world.

Cons

The biggest con is that they are leaning on offshore talent a ton! When I left, they were starting to offshore so much that it was turning into a production heavy as opposed to strategy heavy agency. It is no longer the amazing company that David Williams, Craig Dempster and others had build.
