Pros

* Companionable and accepting coworkers * Generally friendly and appreciative customers * a range of day-to-day job responsibilities that keeps things interesting and rewarding

Cons

* low compensation rates * poor execution of employee training policies * undervaluation of additional skills, training, expertise, and requirements for skilled labor jobs such as custom framing and replenishment compared to baseline associates * chronic understaffing issues caused by constricted scheduling and hiring policies * high staff turnover, resulting in little preservation of institutional knowledge * recurring supply shortages due to artificial budgetary restrictions * uneven quality control on custom frame materials shipped from central distribution * in-house frame design software suffers from a range of problems due to poorly implemented or missing features, unaddressed bugs, and fundamental design flaws

Pros

Relatively easy job, lots to keep you busy and moving if you hate a stationary job. Easy to keep moving up from this role. The right team will make this your favourite role! Perfect job if you enjoy being the solution for everyday problems (just get your pay's worth).

Cons

Far too many hats, as Michaels tends to understaff. Can be a real slog with lack of support for training and followup coachings for cashiers. Hard to recommend this job long-term due to typically low entry pay, and pay gaps in similar management roles caused by company decisions over the last half decade or so.
