Pros

Nokia is very good at life balance and seems to support the overall welfare of the employees. Salaries are beginning to fall inline with the rest of the companies in the industry. Management is very good at listening and to the ideas and thoughts of its employees and in most cases those suggestions are taken into account if possible. Nokia has also been as helpful as possible finding jobs for employees that are impacted by cost savings measures or by other actions causing a reduction in force. For the Most part Nokia is thoughtful for the individual and while their decisions are not always best for the employee, they do try to reduce the impact.

Cons

Great place to work in the late 90's and early 00's but seems to have lost its way in the face of heavier competition. Their have r been numerous re-org's in the past 5 years but have accomplished little in the way of improveing management and making the company more flexible to threats and opportunities in the industry. Nokia tends to knee jerk when it comes to re-orgs by releaseing employees that have a wealth of experience and knowledge, Rather than finding roles for these affected employees they release them and move their roles to other countries where less experience and less salary burden can be realized. Eventually this will catch up to them.

Pros

Decent starting salary, good benefits, generous PTO

Cons

1% raises forever. Last promotion I got to Principal had no raise but a bump in bonus percentage. Now they are giving kids 8-12% raises and they have less than 5 yrs. Once you hit about 5 yrs you will get the 1% a yr and be pigeon holed into a specific job. Then good luck trying to change.
