Pros

My division was acquired as a part of a deal in which the Enterprise Content Division of EMC was sold to Opentext. I've worked in the same team for the past 5 years. This is a description of my last 5 months, in which I was employed under Opentext management. - There is decent work life balance. - Brand new offices. - Unconcerned senior management, which means you can get away with anything.

Cons

- They have a service based company's attitude with ZERO spur for innovation. - Engineering managers who've never coded in their lives manage development teams. Their standards w.r.t tech knowledge is extremely poor. This translates in really pathetic team drive and a general lack of productivity and mistrust on the part of such "brilliant" managers. - There is this senior/junior developer concept. No matter how stellar your work is, you will be judged on the basis of your experience, not your work. You will be judged on the basis of your age. This is NOT a meritocracy. - Hikes and promotions are on the basis of seniority and not the kind of work you do. Let's just say that some people are more equal than others in this company. - HR is non-responsive and unhelpful. They will point you in the direction of your managers, who will point right back towards HR. You will be stuck in this endless circle for a few days before any resolution is to happen. - They are not prompt with their payments. This is a big deal. On-call payments for work outside office hours on escalations are not made on time. In my experience, I was credited the amount after 5 months. That's just unprofessional and probably illegal. - Senior management is unresponsive even if you ping them on chat. They say they're always reachable but when you actually reach out, they do not respond and avoid all forms of contact. - The cafeteria is absolute crap. So you'll land up eating somewhere outside of the office within EGL in case you want to eat something other than sludge. - There is no cab service. So make your own transport arrangements. - There is a massive resistance to innovation because you will pitch your innovation to people who will not even know the full-form of HTTP. They will rarely understand any technological change nor will they give you a platform to put your talents to good use. - There is clear favouritism by managers on the basis of state and seniority. The average age of the employees is 30+. I'd suggest freshers steer clear of this place. You will be surrounded by older people who are looking to coast through their jobs and have a chill life. Not by individuals who will work hard to innovate and make a dent in the world. TL;DR : Join the company if you want to chill and be unconcerned about your job while getting a steady albeit unspectacular paycheck. Turn around and run if you have any ambition associated with your professional career. There are places that are infinitely better.

Pros

You get a paycheck. Some of the people are nice but don’t trust anyone.

Cons

Exec leadership is awful. Always putting out the positive party line but it is all lies. Products are so far behind competitors. No investment in product or marketing. Senior executive leadership team shuffles around their “good old boy” comrades to new roles instead of retiring them or holding them accountable. The internal politics with everyone back stabbing each other to manage up and keep their jobs. Leadership is just doing what the board chair tells them to do. It is all about self promotion vs doing the job. They like to blame the previous CEO but he has been gone a year and it has only gotten worse. OpenText likes to brand itself as top company to work for , I say STAY AWAY!
