Pros
When I was in nursing school I had the opportunity to work at both Advent Health and Orlando Health, Based upon my experience as a student, the decision was easy to make. Twenty years later I still enjoy working for Orlando Health. I went into nursing because of my experience with my dad being sick. It was those difficult times that ignited a passion in me to help others. I made two core promises to myself when I graduated as a nurse. First and foremost give the best care I can possibly provide and second never to become complacent. Thankfully this hospital system has assisted me upholding my core values. With an array of groups to join to improve patient outcomes to offering to advancements in education, I couldn’t be happier. I was able to obtain my BSN without any financial burden to myself. In addition, I have phenomenal leadership that has provided incredible opportunities to cross train and grow my skill set and knowledge base. Lastly, Orlando Health is interested in the long term development of their staff. My leadership has been incredibly supportive of me in challenging work situations, navigating health issues, to adjusting my schedule to help me go to Griefshare to properly work through the death of several family members. I look forward to the days that I work and what the day will bring. What makes me content and stay at Orlando Health is the culture of collaboration, commitment, community, communication, and mutual respect among team members. That’s not to say there are not bumps along the way, as we are all human and conflict is inevitable. However, when a healthy work environment is fostered it strengthens the infrastructure of the organization and promotes staff aside from management ensure we keep each other at a bar of excellence. Our patients deserve excellent, evidence-based care and I know working with this hospital system that is what we provide.
