Pros

The company is very regimented. There is a process for doing everything, so there is consistency. However finding that information is not always easy given the size of the company. There are plenty of resources available to you in the employee intranet but the training on navigating throught intranet, finding those resources and subsequently putting them to use is not always there. The compensation package is fair but if you're in a traveling position, it's hard to make time to actually take time off.

Cons

The pay is not anywhere near industry standard but they can afford to pay their employees what they want as there are plenty of people just waiting to get into the company. I've heard sites refer to this company as the "Wal-mart" of CROs. They bend over backwards to please their client at the expense of their employees. If you're in a traveling position, the idea of a 40 hour work week is a joke. Employees are overloaded with work and are never able to get fully caught up. PPD says they are a premium CRO, but they underbid their contracts and overwork their employees to gross the maximum profit.

Pros

Provided health insurance. Good coworkers Good exposure to team at client site If you have a good technical lead, the job can be great!

Cons

You have 2 bosses (Technical lead from Client Site) and your PPD boss. PPD Boss does not know what is going on If you have a bad technical lead, your life can be miserable. Pay is low No protection from abusive technical lead (coworkers on same team can have a drastically different experience)
