Pros

The workers that keep the lights on are all great folks. They are focused, intelligent, and faithful, with an excellent work ethic.

Cons

Throughout the company, front line and middle management seems to lack clear vision. Their focus appears to be on survival. Senior leadership has done little to inspire confidence. Executive leadership seems to be all about reducing overhead to make the company look better on paper. Very few of the senior staff are "home grown". The majority are from other, more cut throat, industries, and they brought that mentality to PPL. Unfortunately, dedication and loyalty are quickly becoming antique notions at this company. Politics and alliances are the only way to advance past middle management. Thinking for yourself and taking initiative can get you rewarded in some (rare) cases, marginalized in most others.

Pros

Engineering team is young and open for innovative ideas. Everyone supports and respects each other and willing to help and learn from each other. As a contractor - it is a very smooth and stress-free work experience.

Cons

Might be little bureaucratical when it comes to paperwork & processes but this is a large utility so this is expected or even required. People tend to rotate a lot and it makes it difficult to find support & training but everyone understand it and there is no pressure on workload most of the time allowing you to finish the job without a lot of pressure.
