Overall it was great in the beginning but then the company went through layoffs - Claims Generalist Progressive Insurance Employee Review

Pros

Great training program, excellent salary and benefits above the other insurance companies starting salaries. Supportive management to start.

Cons

The layoffs came around very suddenly, a Virtual Claim Unit was setup within a day which came from Corporate. Our management did not seem to know or didn't communicate it to the staff except within a days notice. Our office was downsized immediately because of that and then the layoffs came shortly thereafter. Insurance goes through cycles and most of the companies experienced what we did. It was just that the communication from Management was not there about what was occurring but in fairness, they may not have known either.

Pros

Great supervisor, and great coworkers. Training was good and I left training fully able to do my job with confidence. Sometimes we have fun meetings to attend. Can work in office when we want which is nice on days I want to get out of the house since I work remotely.

Cons

Low pay for work load and responsibilities. Extra responsibilities don’t equal extra pay. Very micromanaged and timed per task which can be stressful if a task takes longer than it should due to circumstances outside of your control. Low raises even with high performance rating.
