Pros
- Peers are friendly especially ground level staff - Location is good - Buddy system is good - Audit system: CaseWare is good - Good exposure (If fee is low but complex audit, assistant will have chances to do the job) - Training given is useful (Depending if you have time to concentrate, sadly to say 90% of us are not) - Every level (Even assistant) will know the whole audit process (From planning to time consuming/unnecessary admin work) - You have your own seat - Direct reporting manager turnover is high which means you have chance to meet good manager - Some partners and managers are approachable - Your life is easy if the management like you, all the credit will be taken by you even it is not. - Having upward evaluation system (But the P&C and usefulness is questionable, suggest to only give when you decided to leave the firm)
Cons
- Long working hours, no work-life balance - Expected to work during annual leave - Toxic environment - Hear says equal to factual, you might be not promoted and get "insult" until you leave the firm yourself because of the hear says - Salary not comparable to other mid-tier firm even after second salary revision in this (Other firms also revising with way better benefits) - Trying to retain and attract staff with the revised salary but no respect to current staff - Promise given was not kept after group merging - Partner (not all) is powerful to make more than 10 employee to resign in a year (Half of then were manager) - For Partner having trust issue and zero tolerance to risk as if we were to provide 100% accuracy FS to client (Not all partner but there is) - Request staff to go back to have face to face meeting during this pandemic even it can be done by virtual meeting - Traditional mindset: Formal attire is required from Monday to Thursday when other firms from big 4 to small firm are implementing smart casual look now
