Pros

Nice people to work with, mostly.

Cons

The list of cons is very long. That's especially true if you work at HQ in Birmingham. The bank is still trying to recover from a disastrous merger with AmSouth. The good ole boy network is in full force at HQ, with people in senior leadership who are locally well-connected and otherwise not really competent. Grayson Hall is a vast improvement over Dowd Ritter, who presided over the merger that nearly destroyed the bank. But the struggle to return to profitability and stay there has been really rough. Job cuts have been harsh and raises are miniscule. It's very tough to grow there either professionally or financially (unless you are one of the good ole boys, of course). Technology improvements have been slow in coming and there are frequent glitches, so trying to grow the consumer business is really difficult. People just expect their bank to offer great online and mobile banking, and Regions is way behind in these areas. There isn't much to like about Birmingham, either. We were glad to move away and not be part of that place anymore.

Pros

HR is easily accessible. Some managers may be on your behind about work even though there are easier methods. Some managers with criticize you in front of other employees.

Cons

We have to use five of our vacation days consecutively so they can audit us. We aren’t assigned Saturday shifts close to our home, so some people have to drive farther for 3 hours of work (no mileage). Managers are hit or miss. PE can be affected by location, so try to get a good location.

Pros

There are Bonuses and employee appreciation days. Good rotation on working weekends.

Cons

Your bonus is paid out based on others performance. If you’re having a great quarter, but someone else is doing slightly better, instead of getting paid out on what you’ve done, you get a decrease in your pay. With your sales, there is always a way for regions to take off credit for those sales so they won’t go towards your bonus.
