Decent place to work but very bureaucratic and politcal - Manager Safeway Employee Review

There are too many layers of management who often tend to manage up rather than develop and look out for their team. The environment is very political and people like to protect their turf. Most operations focus on short-term objectives. Terrible health benefits and pay tends to be on the low end. Very old school in the way the company is run, reflected by the formal dress code of shirts and ties. Employees are rewarded by getting the occasional opportunity to go casual!
