Pros
Friendly atmosphere most of the time, interactions with the public can be nice. There are a lot of different sorts of positions if you're not in it for the money. There are opportunities to earn nice extra pay, especially if you work in commission sales and/or during the holiday season. Some positions allow for independent working, which is nice.
Cons
Low pay, understaffing leads to stress and overworking; not enough feedback on your job performance and poor manager-associate communication. Systems and equipment fail a lot and there is a lot of work-around to get things done. Some of the standards seem impossibly high, perhaps to create lofty goals, but they often produce low morale.
