      Pros

      The culture is amazing, all employees, even interns, feel really empowered to do great things. They really want us to develop to our full potential and there is a lot of focus on sharing and learning. They also trust everyone 100% and are absolutely transparent.

      Cons

      They empower and give us all the resources we need, but you still need a lot of self-confidence to take initiatives, ask for help and such. It might be a tad more difficult if you are an introvert at first, but people are so nice and helpful it goes away. The only problem might be when you approach Shopify for a job, you'll have to put yourself out there. An advice, don`t be scared to be yourself, as long as you are passionate and speak from the hearth. After all, Tobi our ceo says he is an introverted too!

      Pros

      Remote first culture. If you want freedom of location and a company to truly mean and support it - this is the place.

      Cons

      Constant change. Nothing to hold on to in this role, compensation, KPI's, tools all change every quarter.

      Pros

      Legacy Shopify ICs and lower-level managers are excellent and generally quite nice (company's Canadian after all) Caliber of engineering talent is generally high Dev-friendly stack (Ruby/Rails) Bleeding-edge AI adoption with unlimited token budget

      Cons

      Recently brought over a CTO from Microsoft: he brought with him a lot of not-at-all-nice people who are highly political, frequently rude/condescending to legacy Shopifolk, and make consistently bad/dev-hostile technical decisions Bleeding-edge AI adoption is being used to justify unreasonably increased expectations
