Pros
Upcoming and/or current industry standard EDA tools, base and advanced knowledge of VLSI design from a tool perspective. Lot to learn when you design a tool as it takes you through the entire tool flow and make you acquaint with the various design flaws and how to tackle those as they needs to be incorporated in the tool.
Cons
Need to track to every aspect in word processing softwares for detailed analysis with other members. Mostly work are domain specific. so if you encounter a problem that you can solve but it doesn't fall in your domain, you need to alert the specific member and go ahead. Not so downside though.
