Pros

- Very high level of autonomy on both client delivery and internal contributions - Opportunities to contribute to areas like BD, Recruiting, Internal Practice development, and Social Capital - Highly, highly competitive pay compared to other consulting firms - Great work life balance. Not expected to kill yourself working 70+ hour client weeks. Typically land in the 45-50 hours a week range between client delivery and internal contributions - Great culture! Team is super friendly and fun to be around. Highly collaborative when it comes to execution - High exposure and access to leadership, always know where the firm is headed

Cons

Honestly no cons, have been here for 2 years now and greatly enjoying it!

Pros

Principals get 65% of bill rate, which is solid for the industry. Company got very ‘woke’ during Covid, so there is considerable diversity now.

Cons

Company is a cult. It’s staffed by a bunch of mid to late career PMs that are a level above offshore staff aug. Management talks a lot about AI without any of the MDs or CEO knowing anything about it or choosing to spend any time learning how to sell it, market it, or hire for it. The firm started hiring cybersecurity roles, cloud architecture roles, etc to avoid losing revenue associated with opportunities when clients would ask for those roles, but SEI treats them the same as the staff aug PMs and they choose not to invest any attention to branding and marketing those disciplines, leaving those individuals to often have considerable unpaid bench time. Most leave within a few years because it’s clear the company doesn’t value them- the ONLY thing the company cares about is “what did you sell this quarter”. If you are not a PM and you’re considering this company, seriously do your own research and make sure you can sell to 3 or 4 people in your network within your first year. If you aren’t comfortable with that, you’re not going to have a good experience at SEI.
