Pros

TD really prioritizes flexibility, many of the Marketing leaders are women so there is a real focus on making it easy to accommodate commitments and children, by virtue of them having to manage that in their own lives. I've heard men at TD say the same, staying home with a child who is sick or picking them up from school. TD is an incredibly inclusive workplace, people really are comfortable being themselves.

Cons

There is age-ism when it comes time to discuss promotability. I've seen talented people be passed up for roles simply because another person has been around for longer. It feels as though you have to have a family and/or be of a certain age to be considered for a people manager role, for ex. There is also a big focus on hiring "preferred candidates" which of course will work in your favour if you are identified as one, but otherwise you can go through the whole interview process only to find out that they had a favourite all along and were just checking boxes to say they looked at other candidates. There are a number of seriously toxic people who seem to not be fire-able, perhaps for fear of a lawsuit. Individuals who are verbally abusive, inappropriate in the office, sexual innuendos by men who like to make women uncomfortable, it's surprising to see at a place like TD.

Culture, interesting work, responsibilities given to junior employees, mostly low egos

Cons

Work / life balance (although somewhat unavoidable in this industry)

Pros

The management team was supportive, and the branch had a strong team-oriented culture. Because it was a smaller branch, employees had the opportunity to build meaningful relationships, collaborate across roles, and learn from one another. Team members regularly shared ideas, provided constructive feedback, and supported each other's professional growth, creating a positive and rewarding work environment.

Cons

The main areas for improvement would be compensation and scheduling flexibility. At the time, I felt the pay was somewhat low relative to my previous leadership experience in retail management. While compensation may be competitive for some entry-level banking roles, I would have appreciated a stronger alignment between pay and prior supervisory experience. Aside from that, my decision to leave was based on pursuing a different career path rather than any issues with the company itself. TD Bank offers a professional work environment, supportive teams, and valuable opportunities for growth and development within the banking industry.
