Stress Fest - Teller I TD Employee Review

Pros

My colleagues were genuinely caring and very helpful. I was friendly with almost all of them. The people who have been there for a long time are hard workers and they have a lot of knowledge to share. When it wasn't busy, I was able to ask lots of questions and learn invaluable little pointers. I made $12.50 starting and was scheduled for around 20 hours every week.

Cons

My store was oftentimes understaffed, which made asking questions about my transactions almost impossible. Oftentimes I was stuck with a scowling, complaining customer until my neighbor teller could help me out. Learning how to use the software (Encore! Teller) was frustrating and I had to do most of it on my own. The vast majority of customers are snappy and have no patience for people who are learning the job, which is much more complicated than the customers seem to understand. Sales goals are way too high for new hires. You are expected to juggle transactions, selling credit cards and accounts, and whichever other assignments management has passed on to you. The job is a lot more complex than it seems. Transactions are about 1/3 of the actual job, the rest is pushing products and answering ridiculous questions.
