      Pros

      I really enjoyed the diversity in working at a UC. Also, UC system offers excellent benefits, paid time off, and unions for majority of positions.

      Cons

      Working in a academic department can be challenging if you are a woman working with professors from other country's because some lack respect for woman. Professors can sometimes be demanding and rude.

      Great institution serving a diverse student population. Plenty of interesting research labs. Decent benefits.

      Cons

      Commuter school so traffic and parking can be terrible. Select your PI wisely, and ensure healthy work life balance.
