Pros

VCA does offer health insurance benefits, though a bit on the expensive side. There is quality veterinary care, atleast at my location, because I would never stay at an animal hospital that didn't show compassion for animals. Another perk is the employee discounts.

Cons

Let's see...where do I start? Working for incompetent management who never has the employees' best interest as priority, constantly having to explain why you get stuck there late because management is never there but they don't want payroll to run overboard and even though hospital hours end at a certain time people show up late for their appointments and we're not allowed to turn away walk-ins or emergencies even though its not a 24hr. facility so therefore have no choice but to be stuck in overtime even though you're exhausted from a long shift but have no relief staff.

Pros

Small animal, exotics, free care to wildlife, opportunities to work with zoo animals. Internal promotions to change all management has made the work environment very positive. Boarding facilities. Opportunity for certifying for internal crematory.

Cons

Pay rate less than expected for experience level. Corporate in California has increased prices every year that is causing all of my friends and family to change vets. With our rural area and low average income, pets are getting euthanized instead of having testing and treatment. Staff should have more discounts for employee pets.

Pros

Great quality of medicine. Great doctors. Team members that genuinely care about each other. Management is very fair about approving time off requests.

Cons

Pay could definitely be better. Inconsistent scheduling. If you don't speak up, you'll get the short end of the stick when scheduled and they will burn you out. Not enough organized training, especially for new employees, even though they have meetings all the time.
