Pros

Steady income, series 7/63/66 licensing, status quo is acceptable

Cons

Most of the staff is miserable (in private) but are still required to walk around pretending to drink the toxic Kool-Aid of Vanguard. Outside of the walls, Vanguard still has a phenomenal reputation and product but inside, a cancerous tumor is growing. As others have already said, the drive to "bend the cost curve" has started to cut into the bone(s) of crew members. There is no reward/incentive/bonus for exemplary service and most promotions are decided according to the PC police ... if your life's goal is to be a phone monkey and put in an average amount of effort to get a steady paycheck and can put up with a lot of garbage, it might not be a bad spot but if you're looking for happiness, there are better options elsewhere.

Large firm so great to get exposure to different groups.

Cons

Nothing that comes to mind, great place to start and end career.

Pros

Awesome coworkers for young professionals. Paid licensing for a few months.

Cons

Micromanagement is out of control. Incompetent team leaders who are obsessed with power and metrics. Back to back calls, limited support, and nearly impossible effective communication between departments. Zero time to cultivate culture because you are taking calls every second of the day except for 30min/1hr lunch and two 15 minute breaks. You’re locked into your role for over a year (apprenticeship for around 60 days, then a year after promotion to associate) and your team leaders will not approve internal applications unless you are “eligible”.
