Pros

I am a college student and Walmart is a great place for me to make some money on the side. This is by no means a place to have a career as an hourly associate. To make a living you need to be at least an assistant manager (43k starting), or get promoted to a co-manager (60k starting) or a store manager (80k).

Cons

hard to get promoted to management and the expectations are insanely high.

Pros

Advancement opportunities, great at developing skills, great place to learn a skill and grow your resume, or grow with the company.

Cons

Understaffing issues negatively affects all parts of their business. However, Walmart has increased their minimum hourly rate with hopes to attract more committed employees, and retain better employees.
