Pros

It was nice to learn a little about cars going in knowing just about nothing. I always hated the feeling going in to get an oil change and feel like someone was going to screw me over and I would have zero knowledge of what they were saying or doing. Having the experience of seeing the work done and why its done gave me a very helpful understanding of what I should expect. Additionally a good portion of my co-workers we easy to work and helpful at times. Especially the experienced ones.

Cons

How work is conducted is sometimes less than helpful. When I go to get work done at Discount Tire any one person inside can help me and get my information and process my order. While Walmart also has that, the problem is that all work has to be put in through a handheld device and only one exists at one point in time. While Discount can help several customers at once based on available personal, Walmart can only have one at a time regardless of available personal because of the constriction of the device. To make matters worse, in order to use the device you must be trained to know Walmart policy and how to use the device but almost ZERO training is even given in person as how either is conducted. You have to learn by screwing up peoples orders. When complicated or messed up orders occur and you need to refer to management, the only management that can help resolve the issue is the Automotive Management which is understandable. The problem with that is they're not always there so in the event of a predicament, you're stuck with telling management from other departments the issue/s while they have no idea how to resolve the issue at hand because they themselves aren't knowledgeable to know what to do. Lastly turnover can be pretty bad in that department as well but thats a mixed bag on its own. Some fired rightfully so others for silly issues regarding policy.

Pros

Advancement opportunities, great at developing skills, great place to learn a skill and grow your resume, or grow with the company.

Cons

Understaffing issues negatively affects all parts of their business. However, Walmart has increased their minimum hourly rate with hopes to attract more committed employees, and retain better employees.
