Pros

Job security is a plus. The health care benefits have improved and are now as good as other corporations.

Cons

This company is still a "who you know" and "how much you suck up" company when promotion opportunities come, which causes grief to those that believe America got where it is by providing opportunities to the best performers. Not so at Walmart. Be prepared to get into a clickish work environment, and have unqualified people manage others that are more qualifed. Look out for retaliation, it happens. The "open door policy" only works to alert managers that they have a problem with the one that used the open door, and that this person should be watched. Most associates are more concerned about getting themselves more money, than they are about contributing to the objective of their job.

Pros

Advancement opportunities, great at developing skills, great place to learn a skill and grow your resume, or grow with the company.

Cons

Understaffing issues negatively affects all parts of their business. However, Walmart has increased their minimum hourly rate with hopes to attract more committed employees, and retain better employees.
