Pros

Discount card (10%) Corporate discounts (hotels, cellphone service, car rentals, etc) Seeing people you might not otherwise see ( friends and relatives; everyone shops there) Networking and meeting people

Cons

Cutting work hours "why cut hours from people not getting hours to begin with" Advancement is suspect Wal-mart has a computer based advancement where you can apply for open positions in the system. The suspect thing is if there are no positions available how can a person off the street get a position over employees that might have been interested in a position that was never available Skeleton crew not enough cashiers to serve customers certain departments don't have employees to assist customers the ratio of work load to employees available to work is unrealistic at times Below average pay with the type of money wal-mart brings in you would think pay should be excellent and a fair distribution of hours Could go further but these are the most obvious issues

Pros

Advancement opportunities, great at developing skills, great place to learn a skill and grow your resume, or grow with the company.

Cons

Understaffing issues negatively affects all parts of their business. However, Walmart has increased their minimum hourly rate with hopes to attract more committed employees, and retain better employees.
