Micromanagement has gone past extreme and is now out of control. - Assistant Manager Walmart Employee Review
- 2.0Jun 25, 2015Assistant ManagerCurrent Employee, more than 5 yearsNew York, NY
Pros
Lots of career opportunity. Some great & talented people who can make a tough job more pleasant.
Cons
Work Life balance is the biggest joke in the company. Company keeps taking and taking without giving back. 42 hr work week turned into 45, then 47.5, then 50, now 52. Upper Management texts you all day long on your days off for non-business critical reasons. Can't tell you how many of my days off with my children were ruined or taken away because there was a note that a department manager didn't get done. Company now micromanages every minute of your day. Merchandising and creativity are a thing of the past.

Pros
Advancement opportunities, great at developing skills, great place to learn a skill and grow your resume, or grow with the company.
Cons
Understaffing issues negatively affects all parts of their business. However, Walmart has increased their minimum hourly rate with hopes to attract more committed employees, and retain better employees.
