Pros

Made great friends Used to be a nice place to work and some of us were in it for the long haul Diversity in non-senior/executive roles Some support in looking for jobs outside the company after layoffs

Cons

A caring and friendly culture has been replaced with a mercenary culture when the founder was replaced with a CEO from the gambling sector whose sole purpose is profits and providing optionality for investors in his own words. He brought in his own henchmen and the company lost its way and its servant approach after the CEO joined the company. Layoffs became common place. Entire departments are getting replaced left and right and outsourced to Poland, Philippines and Peru. Everyone is in fear for their jobs. Dishonesty is rampant especially at the senior level. They'll say one thing one day and say something completely different the next. Many people are blindsided when they learn that they're losing their jobs overnight. It seems no one is safe. Employees are starting to be micromanaged. it is frankly sad to see what this once great company is turning into . Sure automation and outsourcing seem to be the way to go these days to maximize profit but when you destroy a great culture, bring it henchmen and remove most of the people that made the company what it is , it is only a matter of time until the company becomes a shadow of itself. Worldremit has lost its way. I sincerely hope that it turns around someday. I still support the original founder, the story behind the company and long for the company culture that once was. But there is no way I will follow the current CEO into battle and make sacrifices I used to make seeing how people are treated.

Thank you for your review. Sorry that you felt you had a negative experience. We're proud of our heritage and it’s important for us to keep our purpose at the forefront of everything we do. The business’s dynamic has changed as we've scaled - the impact felt should be positive. The integrity of our brand, transparency of our vision and how we treat our people is extremely important, so we would welcome the opportunity to hear more about your time with us and how we could have made this a more positive experience.

Pros

The main pro of working at WorldRemit is being part of a developing financial tech company. If you accept the job (please, please do not) you will find that being in the environment of helping people send money to their loved ones across the world is fun and captivating.

Cons

Unfortunately, despite a positive company value and mission, the roles offered and the management set up to delegate those roles are an all-around mess. If nothing else, the large turnover rate should indicate the toxic environment that welcomes you as you walk through the doors of WorldRemit. Let me break it down threefold: 1) WorldRemit is divided between a Denver office and a London office, where the headquarters reside. As a customer service executive - like at any other job - you will be expected to communicate with your team in order to produce the best work possible. The problem is that the London office is paid less by a very large margin and therefore, the quality of their work as they would put it is "rubbish". You are left communicating with a bunch of lazy and ignorant who appear to make your role harder as an amusement. 2) The management is a freaking joke: what do you get when you combine a few over-privileged entrepreneurs with the wish to make money at a low expense? the WorldRemit management. None of them have ever began to lead a team and the communication between them, more often than not, creates tension in the workplace rather than resolve. 3) Work-life balance. If you want anything resembling a personal life, do not take this job.
