Pros

The speakers came from a relevant background for the program and engaged the students. Some students enjoyed the program because they had the opportunity to socialize.

Cons

70 hours per week. At the end of each work day we debrief with management and everyone’s eyes were bloodshot. Advisors are “salaried” but are given an hourly structure so the pay is coincidentally minimum wage. Young people taking this job don’t seem to realize this and they think $2,000 per month is a lot. Advisors do not have a typical weekend off. Your only day off is Saturday and you are on call. I got a text at 10 PM on a Saturday saying you have a meeting at 9 AM on Sunday. Advisors work two weeks and get one week off. The daily schedule had flaws. The educational tours to museums etc. are shorter than the typical time it takes to view the whole museum. So you’d get about 40 minutes to tour per location and have 20 minutes of gathering the students to wait to board the bus. The simulation (like a board game) for the students was not fully completed or tested and you had to make up some rules on the spot. Meals are not all covered/limited at the worksite for advisors. Breakfast was served late and employees were punished for finding food elsewhere.
