Pros

Once you reach the management level, you are typically offered the opportunity to work remotely when possible.

Cons

My goodness where to start. Xerox is very similar to other huge, legacy corporations in the sense that they've spent years acquiring other businesses and expanding their scope......to huge faults. The result is a disjointed quagmire with so many different branches and divisions that sheer confusion reigns free. I am not even kidding when I tell you that for the 4 and a half years that I worked for them, not only did I have 6 to 10 managers all providing me direction (often conflicting direction) on various issues, even by the end of those 4 and a half years, the structure and chain of command was no clearer than in the beginning. It was not at all unusual to take a question to my manager only to have him reply that I should "call the help desk". The help desk was (of course) outsourced to somewhere in Asia, where not only was there the mandatory language barrier, the people on that end never had any idea about how to address an issue. Even simple things, like rectifying an issue with a Microsoft Exchange server was impossible. I spent 9 straight months trying to get this "help desk" to resolve an issue where every single desktop/laptop in my facility would lose its connectivity to the LAN multiple times a day (the only fix was to manually refresh your IP address). 9 straight months, and they never figured it out. Hours long phone calls,l WebEx's, and email threads, and they never got it fixed. Eventually, I just gave up and resigned myself to the reality. By the way, this looks REALLY bad when you have potential new clients in the building, and you have to tell them how to jury rig their IP connection when it goes out. Let's get on to the other fun areas. Not only are raises and bonuses non-existent, but you get the pleasure of being ordered to take "furloughs" which is a very nice, corporate euphamism for a week with no pay. I, along with all of my colleagues in management, got to take no fewer than 3 of these in my 4.5 years with them. This was all because the company "did not make it's margins" at the end of a particular Wall Street Quarter. Now keep in mind, this is the company that does not pay any invoices for a minimum of 75 days past the due date (often this stretches to 90 days), so they are quite literally paying MILLIONS of dollars every single month in late fees on all of their invoices.....yet somehow, to save money, we get to take some weeks off without pay. Fabulous. When I was hired, my offer letter detailed my bonus potential, which was 10% of my annual salary. I never once got it. Not because of performance issues (I have consistently received "Exceeds Expectations" or "Outstanding" on every single one of my reviews), but because (due to pressures from Wall Street) Xerox did not fund the "bonus pool". So we got nothing......every year. Let's move on to HR. I had 2 employees who I discovered were involved in an elaborate theft scheme. They were working with several other parties and were successful in stealing no less than $80k worth of company materials in just one year's time. Not only did I have documents supporting all of these allegations, thanks to some CCTV systems, I quite literally had photo/video evidence of them performing the thefts, enough to get local law enforcement involved. Naturally, I escalated this to HR. It took 9 months after the issues came to light before I was able to fire them. 9 months! As for law enforcement, they had all the evidence they needed to prosecute. What did Xerox do? Dropped the charges. Great. So they get to keep the $80k they stole (and that's all I was able to find...who knows what else they got) and as for my bonus for helping identify this problem? Uh, sorry dutiful employee, we just don't have the money right now. If you are considering employment with this company, stop considering immediately. Don't walk, RUN in the other direction.
