Pros

- Solid sales training - Fully remote - Solid benefits - Good place to get a few months of experience and then land something better; I saw it as an exhausting paid job search

Cons

- Terrible base pay - Selling terrible product (former clients universally despise it) - You won't earn commission until a few months in (they do this cute thing where you don't "unlock" commission until you book $12k in revenue) - Good luck living on $600 a week-- might as well bartend and have time to apply for a job that actually pays a living wage - Constantly hiring and firing a ton of people - Cringey, culty "culture" - Prepare to be micromanaged-- they chew you out if you go longer than ten minutes without dialing. But they encourage you to do a whole bunch of crap like listen in on past calls. Am I supposed to do this in my free time? Yeah, ok. I have a life. - Constantly ramming propaganda down your throat about how good the commission checks are gonna be (you know, one day)

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are glad to hear that you found value in our remote work environment, our benefits package, and our sales training program. We hear your concerns regarding the compensation structure, the pace of the role, and the overall team culture. Our goal during the interview process is to be as transparent as possible about the rewards and expectations that come with the Account Executive position. We also recognize that our management style at Yelp is very hands-on, which to some can feel like micromanagement. This approach is designed to provide ample support for our sales team as they practice new tactics and develop their skills, though we understand it may not be the right fit for everyone. We appreciate you sharing your perspective, as feedback like yours helps us continue to evaluate how we can best support our team members.

Pros

If you love your city, it can be very fun. Remote work is helpful and you'll make great relationships with fellow community managers, who are typically wonderful people.

Cons

As others have said, upper management is extremely out of touch with reality, including the realities of small businesses post-COVID. Pay is very under market for the level of work. Values are consistently preached but only selectively honored.

Thanks for sharing your experience after spending so many years on our team. We agree that connecting with your city and working alongside wonderful fellow Community Managers are some of the best parts of the role. We're also glad remote work was helpful for you. Favoritism and gossip don't align with the environment we want to create. We want everyone to feel valued and supported as a person. We also want to uplift team members who want to explore roles in other departments. We have many amazing opportunities across Yelp, and we encourage people to pursue the work they care about most. Your feedback helps us grow, and we will share your notes with our leadership team so we can keep making Yelp a better place to work. Thanks for all your hard work over the years, and we wish you the very best in your next role.
