Pros

Zillow offers a great persona of an amazing work enviroment with a company who appreciates their employees. Although this is not really the truth, they do a great job of making it look that way. There are great people that you get to work with, but you usually find that they soon move on to other career opportunities.

Cons

The Rentals division is a ship without a captain or a course. I worked there for almost 2 years and the direction was changed more times than I can count and the leadership was so ambiguous you didn't know who actually had authority to make decisions. Don't plan on taking any vacation time either. If you request time off you get looked down upon for doing so. When I requested a day off one time the email response that I received was, " Is that a good idea?" I guess that's why they don't even offer vacation it anymore. So if you're your looking for a company that over works you and underpays you this is a great place to join. If you want earn what you're actually worth keep looking!

Thank you for your feedback, and I'm sorry that you didn't have a good experience here. One note to clarify on your statement - we have a pretty generous vacation policy that is universally available to employees. -- Amy (COO)

Pros

You can make good money here.

Cons

In sales, job can change often. For example: I was making good money and excelling because I am a relationship Sales person. Then they changed it to where you get the sale, and instead of being able to grow that account via that relationship you just broke into, you have to pass it to an account manager and go back to cold/robo calling. You "book" of business you recive to prospect from is a lottery. I received a book of prospects/accounts that most of the were low income, or senior living properties. They don't have a budget and have a line of renter on a waitlist. No way to convince them to spend money on advertising but you still have the same quota.

Thank you for sharing such a detailed perspective. We understand that frequent changes to roles, account ownership and business priorities can have a real impact on relationship-building and the day-to-day experience in sales. We’re glad to hear compensation was a positive part of your time at Zillow, and we appreciate you being candid about where the model and structure felt frustrating. Feedback like yours helps us better understand how these changes are experienced across teams as the business evolves.
