I worked at EquipNet (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Equipnet was quite a challenge to begin with since they provide no training and you're essentially left to your own devices to succeed. If you're a go getter with a technical edge you will most definitely thrive. You spend your first year understanding the industry and the equipment so chances are you will not complete any large transactions unless they're handed to you on the inbound. It's a pretty laid back environment so if you don't perform well under micro managing managing and corporate politics you'll enjoy the first couple of years. Overall you learn alot about business, negotiation, logistics, project management, and marketing. There's great job security because it almost impossible to get fired. Great company to start your career with but about a 3 year cap for top performers. Many opportunities for high paying sales jobs after you leave, especially with OEMs

    Cons

Unfortunately the CEO doesn't believe in holding onto the top talent that starts from the bottom. There are many sub-par/low performing directors that weigh down the rest of the company. Some of them mean well but have no ability to close a deal or recognize an opportunity to make money for the company even if there's risk involved. When I say "weigh down" I also mean from a salary perspective because once you hit a certain point you will recieve low raises and have no room for title growth unless someone dies or retires. The bonus plan is very vague and undefined so don't expect to earn six figures if you net the company a million every year. This is not a performance based company so if you perform above and beyond don't expect an above and beyond reward. You will be forced into attending countless meetings and committees which fools you into thinking you can affect change in the company. This is only a distraction so you don't realize you're not getting paid enough!

    Advice to Management

Don't treat you're top sales talent as "plug and play" because targeted sales makes the company money and no you cannot "automate" the sales department. If you plan to grow your marketplace sales hold onto good talent and create a defined commission plan with attainable goals where employees can actually earn six figures. Money empowers people not committees and worthless internal rewards programs. Your company is earning a poor reputation in the industry.

    Pros

You learn a lot very quickly because training is not very good. So if you are someone who can learn quickly and adapt, you will do well.

    Cons

No training, extreme favoritism and cliques amongst management, NO room to grow when you hit a certain point, and no mid level management positions at all. There is the all-male management team, and then everyone else. If you work your butt off, you get more work and not much more pay.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees more when 90% + are telling you they are dissatisfied with the same things. Reward good employees, and cut people out who are not contributing.

I worked at EquipNet full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Very open and relaxed environment. Flat structure, so you don't have to go through a million people to get stuff done. Your ideas will get heard and you have the liberty to take the initiative on your projects.

    Cons

Pay could be better for what they expect of you sometimes. Because there is such a flat structure it can work to a disadvantage when it comes to responsibilities. There is also no room to climb the corporate latter.

    Advice to Management

Invest in your employees, let them know they are appreciated. Office culture needs some work improving.

    some spurts of wild disorganization

low salaries but great comprehensive benefits package

global company that appreciates but doesn't necessarily reward diversity

    Advice to Management

    Pros

EquipNet is a good company experiencing the challenges of growing from a small outfit to quality mid size firm. EquipNet’s business is complicated and the company is driving to bring about a customer experience that is far better than the current industry standard. There are good people here working hard to make this company better every day.

What is refreshing at EquipNet is that employees are empowered to bring forth good ideas and drive positive change for EquipNet’s customers and the company. As an employee, my voice is heard and my ideas are given attention. Being a flatter organization that encourages this, the company retains an entrepreneurial spirit where one can make a difference.

Recent organizational changes to position the company for continued growth are starting to generate positive results which are exciting for all involved.

    Cons

Typical of a lot of growing mid size companies, EquipNet would benefit from stronger training programs and systems for its employees.

    Young company
Good experience for entry level employees
    Good atmosphere and culture
    Good learning opportunity.

    Cons

-Management generally does not have any knowledge of equipment.
The CEO has zero equipment knowledge and is a very odd individually
It is a very unorganized operation and the company claims to have equipment specialist but there knowledge on Equipment is often very limited.
No warranty on any equipment which does not bring confidence in clients.
No training is given to you.
No room for advancement. Managers will be there until they die/retire.
Company cuts corners to save a few bucks.

    Advice to Management

Learn more about what your selling and pay your employees more than an entry level college grad.
