I have been working at Eurest full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    - Focused on developing internal team members
    - Endless career options, both geographically and functionally
    - Perks of the hospitality industry without the night and weekend hours

    Cons

The hospitality industry is always challenging - Eurest faces some of the same struggles with retaining strong employees.

I have been working at Eurest full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I've been in the culinary field over 40 yrs and this is the first time in my life I have had nights and weekends off for the most part. The quality of life with my family has grown immensely.

    Cons

The only issue we have is filling job openings, because of the company's policies and advertising

    Advice to Management

Delegation is the key to success and make sure your employees know you would never ask them to do something you wouldn't be willing to do yourself .

I have been working at Eurest full-time

    Pros

Union, benefits are great. Flexible schedule.

    Cons

Management is disconnected. Expectations are high, support is low.
Great for entry level hospitality job, but definitely not a career path.

    Advice to Management

learn the ins and outs of daily operations before you start making demands.
In most companies a manager is trained to do all aspects of there units so they can understand what there staff is doing everyday. However most here do not know how to do the most basic of jobs.
Take the time to listen to those on the front lines and give them a pat on the back once in a while for sticking with you despite your lack of caring and knowledge.
When things go wrong, stop blaming the low people on the totem pole when it is completely out of there hands to do anything about it.
Step up and own the mistakes, own the missing pieces and just make it better moving forward. Thank you.

I worked at Eurest full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Monday thru Friday set work schedule. Paid holidays, paid sick days, health, dental & vision benefits per Union Contract.

    Cons

Eurest hired a new manager who changed the whole dynamics of the work place we called our second home. We felt disrespected, bullied and threatened by an unprofessional manager.
Bringing this to the attention of upper management and our Union Rep. only made the situation worse. Retaliation to the extreme and another employee was targeted for dismissal.
After almost two years, eight employees were either fired or quit in a unit of 10/12 employees. Two employees were there for 19 years, two over 10 years, and the remainder 5 or less years. New hires came with an open mind and soon found out they could not meet the expectations of management in the allotted time.

    Advice to Management

Please take the time to listen to your employees when urgent matters are brought to your attention. We poured our hearts and souls into our job every day to make Compass the Leader in the Food Service Industry. You lost a group of hard working and dedicated employees because of one bad manager.
