I have been working at FedEx SmartPost part-time

    Pros

Its a very nice environment, and very easy of a job to get completed everyday.

    Cons

The manager for my sort is never available, like today I have to call out because of my migraine that makes light and loud noises sensitive to me. And I hear new employees say the same thing, Mr. Such As Such never answers his phone or return calls.

I have been working at FedEx SmartPost part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Flexible Schedule, descent pay, PTO, easy work. Work/Life balance is great(outside of Peak)

    Cons

If you are a hard worker you have to help out the lazy ones every night.
Not enough full-time positions to keep people there long term.

    Advice to Management

Stop justifying why the lazy workers are that way. If motivation does not work, show them the door.

I worked at FedEx SmartPost part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Opportunity to work in different areas. Generally safe

    Cons

Inadequate initial training of package handlers, especially sort/scanners. Inconsistent work hours after peak season and employees are rarely notified prior to arriving at Hub that there’s no work.

    Advice to Management

Treat all employees with courtesy and respect. Ensure that all new employees are properly trained to do their jobs.

I have been working at FedEx SmartPost part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The pros of this place is that your work doesnt require a lot of mental thinking. Its fairly easy; you grab a package, scan it, & palatize it. The benifits are great once you're full time or have reached 1000 hours as a part timer.

    Cons

The job gets boring after an hour in since its very repetitive. You'll find yourself working 2-3 hours shifts if you're in the late shift. The hours sucks and its almost not worth going to work if you're only going to work for a couple of hours.

The management sucks. They hired a bunch of entitled babies who think they're doing the best management style there is. They try to be buddy buddies with you and pretend to care about you when really all they care about is the job getting done within the numbers.

    Advice to Management

Learn to be a great Leader and not a Manager that is power hungry.

I have been working at FedEx SmartPost part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Fast paced environment, Time goes by fast work hard and pick up the slack for the people who take extended bathroom breaks. Good opportunity to meet new people . Some of the managers will pitch in when it is needed

    Cons

Safety committee laughed when I fell over a box that was left on the floor. Too many move way to slow. When you work hard you have to compensate for the people who move like sloths. When you finish your section you need to move down the line and bail out the slow unmotivated people.

    Advice to Management

Be careful who you choose as mentors. One of them in particular was rude and disrespectful. They talk about the Purple Promise and sadly some of the people sorely lack people skills. It is not managements fault because complacency is inevitable in this type of environment.

    Pros

Benefits available are a bit above average

    Cons

Closest thing to a sweat shop I've ever seen.
Sep - Jan worked 12 hour days with no day off.
    Ruthless Management
    Poor treatment of employees

    Advice to Management

This place needs a complete reset. I have a hard time believing that FedEx allows this kind of management given its reputation as a leader.

I worked at FedEx SmartPost part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I enjoyed the people I worked with when I started. It can be rough at the beginning, but it can get easier if your coworkers are hard workers as well.
They work with other work/school schedules.

    Cons

    No air conditioning
Peak was short and hours can fluctuate based on how much freight comes in.
Pallet quality from the shift before often was horrible, or some employees during shift created horrible pallets as well.
