Pros

Nice building... Free Lunch 2-3 times in a month.

Cons

IT TEAM: IT team does not have much knowledge of IT development and team as a whole include only 3 developers. In this company project owners decide when the projects need to go live without asking IT team estimations. There is no tester(QA person), no business analyst. No documentation. Basically Developer plays 3 roles documenting, developing and testing. If anything goes wrong developers will be blamed and handled unprofessionally. IT Director: Director of IT does not have any respect for software engineers and treated horribly. You should not be surprised if you get call on Sunday morning 9am from IT director to be at the office at 11am. If you don't show up then you will get threat to terminate your employment. Working Hours: Working hours are horrible, spanning from 55-70 hours a week at least. Every weekend you have to work. Resources are very limited, they will not hire any extra resources. Development Process: Team does not plan development, testing and deployment and the approach is very crude. The requirement creep in every single day till the project gets deployed. There is no certain planning involved in any project. Nobody knows the scope and end result of the project. Suggestion to future prospects: If you are a beginner don't join this place as you will not learn anything here. For a career oriented professionals this place is full of blunders, so don't test your patience.

It is unfortunate that you had such a negative experience in your short tenure at FinFit. After reviewing your comments with our team, they all feel that this is a positive and engaging environment and their opinions differ from yours. This is why probably most of our team members have been here for at least five to six years and will continue to work here for many more years. Good luck in your future endeavors and thank you for your feedback.

A HOT MESS!!

Pros

While the management is friendly and team work is stressed, it's really just a facade to get you to put up with the many flaws of this company, basically a means to use the staff.

Cons

RUN don't walk away from this company if you are an accountant. It will be a TOTAL nightmare. Accounting data is covered from head to toe in errors from a highly incompetent IT staff who can't write code and aren't disciplined to do their jobs which results in accountants having to fix hundreds of errors manually themselves. This an ongoing problem that mgmt refused to resolve causing month end close to take no less than a MONTH! Every month! There IT errors daily and new excuses as to why. They employ 4 different pieces of bargain basement software which aren't integrated and don't function properly making everything a 12 step process. FinFit is a payday loan company (no matter how they try to spin it that's what they REALLY do) and they have the email of all staff set to receive emails of every single transaction that takes place at their stores, whether it applies to you or not. Even IT requests of other employees hit your inbox, not to mention doctor and other appointment of staff coming to you as an invite and hitting you calendar whether you want it to or not. Hundreds of useless emails on a daily basis to aggravate an already stressful situation of a department and company that is very poorly run. Staff daily works 9 to 10 hours including Friday but don't dare think that means you can get some of that back if you need to run an errand or leave early. If a paid holiday (only 5 holidays are observed) falls on the weekend, don't expect to get Monday or the prior Friday off unless you want to use your PTO which isn't much to start with.

One of the disadvantages for employers when it comes to Glassdoor reviews is that they are uploaded without validation when the comments contain negative, inaccurate information, such as this. (1) FinFit is a financial wellness company, not a payday loan company. If that was not true, why would we have such incredible partners to offer our product? (2) Our employees are not required to work 9-10 hours a day. Do deadlines sometimes come up and work needs to be completed? But work life balance here is exceptional. (3) We offer six major holidays off. And just like many companies outside of the government sector, we are not closed on some of the federally observed holidays such as President's Day, Martin Luther King Day, Veteran's and Columbus Day. (4) If you received too many calendar reminders and emails about individuals being out of the office, there are mail filters you can put into place so it doesn't jam up your inbox. But with only 40 people working here, I don't imagine there are many notifications. (5) If there were so many system issues, what did you express to the IT Director to help identify and fix the challenges? In addition, my door is always open and I don't remember being approached to speak through any challenges the accounting department may have with systems. (6) There has been little to no turnover in the Accounting Department. The Director has been here 30 years, the Accounting Manager has been here 7, the AP Manager 13 and the Accounting Clerk has been here almost 5 years. If things are so bad - why do they come in every day and give 100% and have so for many years? FinFit is an incredible company along with all the team members who work here. You will not find a more dedicated, talented and driven group of individuals. Our President is an incredible leader that would do anything for his employees. He makes you proud to work here and to be part of the organization. Why did I feel the need to write this long response? Because the employees at FinFit are my family. And you stand up for family. Job Seekers - See for yourself how great FinFit is. Don't let one inaccurate review deter you from applying to our organization!! Not everyone appreciates and shares our core values. Five years as Top 100 Places to Work in Virginia....there is a reason for that.

There is always something big going on! Challenging projects, after work fun and celebrating accomplishments just to name a few. This is an organization where you really get to put your ideas out there and try a few things.

No major cons. To work here, you do need to be adaptable and ready to work!
