I have been working at First Citizens Bank full-time (More than 8 years)

Great work environment and people. Lots of growth opportunity.

    Cons

Must be a self starter no formal training program.

    Pros

Friendly work environment. Customers are for the most part enjoyable to help. The hours are good and the benefits are great.

    Cons

Pay is lower than other banks. The technology seems a little behind other banks. Sometimes the interest rates were not comparable to other financial institutions.

    Advice to Management

    Need to be present more

I have been working at First Citizens Bank full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Starting around 2013 lots of new IT staff was brought in for change and new ideas. Old groups were split up and reorganized. Pay is good. Great benefits. Has a cafeteria on site that serves hot food on for breakfast and lunch. Company culture is nice.

    Cons

Takes a long time to get in and get interviewed and hired. Interview process makes you feel like a number (pickup an access card, walk in, no tour, tight schedule, long interview process, get out). Others in lobby waiting on same experience.

    Advice to Management

Seems to be ok now since new CIO. Used to be some favoritism.

I have been working at First Citizens Bank full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

This is a big bank, without the big bank pressure or feel. I have been working for this bank for 14 years since they expanded to the west coast. I have been through many changes with the bank and have had a number of different roles. There are always daily struggles, but it all depends on how you deal with them. The bank and the management I have dealt with is incredibly understanding and accommodating. I would highly recommend working for First Citizens Bank as they are always growing and working on advancing in the banking/financial industry.

    Cons

Medical benefits are expensive and the opportunity for growth is lacking. But still overall a great company to work for.

    Advice to Management

Need to look for ways to create advancement within other areas besides NC. There are numerous associates looking to advance their career to help benefit the bank and their area.

I worked at First Citizens Bank full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great working with customers and staff.

    Cons

If you are not a favorite, you are out of luck
No matter how many goals you meet, it doesn't matter
It is embarrassing how little top people know are care about banking
A bigger embarrassment is going on calls with them
    No promotions from within
A $.20 raise across the board is ridiculous, why would anyone want to stay.

    Advice to Management

I think HR should have employees review their upper management anonymously.
Someone needs to acknowledge the fact that branches are losing some serious business. Maybe Mr. Holding should come down and visit.
