There are some serious issues in this organisation and with the leadership. These issues run deep and manifest themselves into being an extremely hostile environment. Rather than rehash a long list of concerns here, I would instead just strongly urge any potential partner, investor, investee or employee to complete a due diligence and, at minimum, a meaningful reputation check before engaging. No doubt the founder comes from some family money that commands respect at first glance. But, go beyond that in scratching the surface and get a sense of the red flags. Approach a handful of previous or existing partners/employees. Provide some comfort to them that the reputation check is entirely off-the-record so they don’t fear retaliation from the founder, and then you’ll find that people open up with honest feedback. Despite the founder’s super aggressive approach to non-disclosure agreements, my sense is that the many folks who have been burned will probably break confidentiality in a discreet chat.
Main point – you should stay far away.
