Pros

Friendly colleagues, social environment and diverse groups of people

Cons

-Practicing nepotism -Lack of strategical planning and giving buffer -Afraid of changes from the existing out-dated and bad system, procedures, standards, etc -Insanely high turnover rate What to Expect when you work at Gryphtech DEV -Always short on schedule as 'new' project squeezes in the existing project -Lack of knowledge transfer across the different product QA -Always short on time. often need to kill quality to meet deadline, yet managers expect to deliver a good quality -Short testing window, no long term testing or stability testing SUP -Due to poor quality, always busy on support issues. Some of the issues should have been caught at the QA level -Due to insufficient knowledge of the product and/or logic behind, relies on the developers to help with the issue which adds to the 'short on schedule' -Any changes made by support do not get tested by QA team OPS -Servers and systems are not built for scalability. Multiple issues with old systems and load balancing issue. -No scheduled maintenance or temporary shutdown despite the fact that company has nice load balances PROD -CEO and Managers cannot say "no" to projects if clients are pushing for it. -No project is written down; no functional specification document,no requirement document DESIGN -Only 1 person in the design team; solo work the whole thing. -Due to no documentation, mock-ups are generally the only way to show client and bounce back-and-forth

Thank you for the detailed review! We are sorry that you didn’t have a good experience during your short time with us. Some of your critiques are spot on; we were a small company with great products that took on some big projects/clients and had to grow very fast. In just over a year we doubled in size. During that time we experienced growing pains for sure. Since the time of the review we’ve made some big changes, including the introduction of a new CTO, an HR department and a new Joint Health and Safety Committee. As of today, we are confident that our company has made great progress and continues to move in the right direction. Thank you for taking the time to provide this feedback and we wish you the best in your future endeavors. Kind regards, GryphTech

Thank you for your review, we’re sorry your experience here was not satisfactory. At the time of this post we were in the process of hiring a new CTO and revising the review process to include regular one on ones for employees to discuss the challenges and opportunities of their role, as well as their general satisfaction level. We believe that the only path to sustainable growth is to invest time and resources into keeping our teams productive and happy. Our leadership is strongly committed to creating a culture that values and respects the opinions of all of our employees. We know that alternate views on processes and deliverables are essential to driving innovative solutions. Our business succeeds when everyone is working towards the common goal of delivering the best possible solutions to our clients. Thank you for the input and we wish you all the best in your future endeavors. Kind Regards, GryphTech

Bad employer

Pros

A decent stepping stone for fresh-off-the-boat immigrants and junior developers with no prior experience. Get a year of experience and get out of there. There is a couple smart people working there who you can learn from. Director of Development was a nice guy (but I hear he's not with Gryphtech anymore).

Cons

Gryphtech is a bad employer, that's all there is to it. Everything that a software engineer would hate about their job, Gryphtech has to offer: unpaid overtime (including weekends), micromanagement, severely outdated technologies, bad deployment practices, old and slow computers. Most of the people seem to care very little about their work here, and everyone is just waiting to get some experience and leave. Management is woefully incompetent and doesn't care for employees.

Thank you for your review and we’re sorry your experience here was not a positive one. 2015/2016 was definitely a period of transition for GryphTech as we grew double our size in a short period of time - we sure did endure some growing pains. Our team however worked together to reach some great milestones and we are proud of the various steps we have taken to make GryphTech a great place to work. Our Management team is very focused on ensuring our employees are looked after and will continue to do so. We wish you all the best in your future career path!
