I have been working at HAVI full-time

    Pros

At HAVI, the people are the best part of the experience. From senior executive, to first level, HAVI has some of the friendliest and most collaborative people I've ever worked with!

    Cons

The work day and work loads can get very heavy. HAVI's slogan is "Deliver the Promise" and we always do. This sometimes means long hours on conference calls in 3 different geographic time zones.

    Advice to Management

Continue to appreciate the hard work of your very passion employees. Employees LOVE our company.

I have been working at HAVI full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The benefits are hard to beat - lunch program, 15 days PTO + 4 personal days for new hires, 401k match, profit sharing, tuition reimbursement, etc. The work is sufficiently challenging and there's always some task or project to be worked on. Cross training opportunities are available and encouraged.

    Cons

There is a lot of red tape that needlessly extends the timeline of projects, improvement process proposals, and promotions. Resources get cut without replacements so that continuing employees are slammed with twice or more of the work for the same pay. Employee promotions are limited and only occur after there is enough evidence that the employee has been successfully performing the higher position's responsibilities for a year to prove that a promotion is warranted. Performance evaluations are tied to pay which in theory can be motivating except when the budget is limited and management colludes to dole out ratings that don't truly reflect each individual's actual personal performance but rather reflects how the individual did compared to all other employees at the company.

    Advice to Management

Change how performance evaluations are tied to pay. Personal employee performance evaluations should be specific to each employee and not based on a bell curve or the budget. If the majority of employees receive a high rating, then the resulting individual payout may be lower but at least employees will feel that they have some control over their performance evaluations, and that is much more motivating.

I have been working at HAVI full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Strategic Projects are plentiful at this company as it is always looking to stretch its ability to support its customers in ways that provide best in class solutions.

    Cons

Currently going through some re-organization effort, however the resulting structure and globalization of our structure should offer great opportunity to work in a global enterprise system and ultimately continue to develop our employees.

    Pros

McDonald’s association, happy meal toys periodically, cool products, neat projects to work on, challenging environment

    Cons

Supervisors have no people skills and show favoritism, projects change too quickly without explanation

    Advice to Management

There are so many talented individuals working here but if you cannot look past your chosen few, the place will continue to struggle. Retention is a huge issue for such a great company. Think about it. The managers in place cannot continue to act this way. Mostly they are knowledgeable about the processes and product, but people management skills need to improve. Managers are in place because of who they know and are not always the most qualified. And they are kept in leadership positions despite complaints to HR.

I worked at HAVI full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Competitive Pay
Excellent Benefits - Examples: Paternity Leave, Starting 15 days vacation, WFH (for some departments)
    Good Culture
    Excellent Community Outreach/Charitable Giving
    Great Location
The arrow is pointed up. Real changes are being made at HAVI for the better, but they are just taking far too long to implement.

I would really recommend this company to a more entry to intermediate role. Anyone more senior will see that the opportunities are far more limited.

    Cons

Bureaucratic - It's almost as if you work for the government. Too many stakeholders in change that leads to nothing getting done.
Consultant Reliant - Spends far too much of its resources on consultants and spends too little time listening to the subject matter experts they paid internally. Often hires consultants to give information that was already known.
Lack of Direction from the Top - I can count the amount of times I have heard from the CFO, CEO, CHRO on one hand from the time I worked there.
Extremely Top Heavy - There are more managers than staff employees.
ONE HAVI - Parroted a lot, but is not done in practice. Want an example? Go to The Marketing Store glass door page. Yep that's the same company. Each operate on their own and none of the systems are connected so any type of global reporting is impossible.
Internal Systems - Externally the systems used for McDonald's is top notch. Internally, no tangible investment has been made to organize Finance, IT, or HR. The most notable improvement that was made in the last 5 years is that there was an upgrade to Office 360...

    Advice to Management

You need to figure out this ONE HAVI message. This company cannot tangibly make the next step until it comes together and is centralized. Until that happens each area will function as new businesses. Invest in the infrastructure, just because it finds a way to run does not mean its run well.

    Pros

Good health benefits, 401k match & profit sharing.

    Cons

The company has been going through a reorganisation for nearly 2 years with no end in sight. There is no strategy apparent to the employees & morale is at an all time low.

    Advice to Management

Stop using change as an excuse for your poor execution. Invest time and energy in your people. Develop a clear strategy and goals for the organization and share it with your employees who need to actually make it happen.

I worked at HAVI full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The company has a lot of potential. The market has shown a interest in their products and capabilities because of their long-term association with McDonalds.
It's a global company with several different lines of business, and it's working hard to integrate between them. That means the opportunity to work internationally across a range of businesses.
The company is small enough that your voice can be heard. In general, senior leadership is accessible. Because of high turn-over, lots of opportunities to advance.
    Benefits have always been good.

    Cons

What used to be a truly employee driven culture has been slowly dying over the last few years since the executive buyout. It's becoming a much more sterile, transaction driven sort of employment.
At least in the US, there doesn't seem to be any sort of realistic long-term business plan. It's in a downward spiral and it's not clear there is a plan to right the company. It's hard to recommend HAVI until the business stabilizes.

    Advice to Management

Get serious about the direction of the company.
