    Pros

    Non-management employees are great people

    Cons

No such thing as work-life balance. They say they promote job flexibility, but every department has their own opinions on what that means. No consistency across the company.

I worked at HAVI full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

A lot of good people at HAVI, unfortunately none of them are part of the leadership team. Many of those good people have grown tired of the poor management. Reasonable salary and benefits round out the pro's.

    Cons

The ownership team lacks any strategic direction compounded by the lack of being able to stick with a direction. They basically have all their eggs in one basket (McDonalds), and have no insight or sales leadership to grow the business outside of McDoanlds. The ownership group has no outside board or advisers to council them which exacerbates the problems. Fresh ideas are stifled by the status quo management team afraid of change, they are unwilling to hear new ideas, and the understanding that if you don’t parrot the executive team you won’t last long. You can see the turnover of talented new people that have come in over the past five years and quickly moved on. Diversity is a joke within the organization. It’s simply words on a paper, and not embodied by the leadership team. Simply look at the leadership team on the website, that really says it all.

    Advice to Management

    1) Bring in someone who knows how to develop a viable, long-term strategy for the organization, properly fund it, and stick to the plan, don't start over every year... Or six months...
    2) Owners need to step back out of the daily business and allow an actual qualified management team to run the business.
    3) Leadership needs to expand and capture the ideas and voice across the organization, not just listen to what you want to hear, or the small few within the silo you have created.

I have been working at HAVI full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Strong benefits, flexible work schedules, summer hours that allow you to work 9 hours Monday through Thursday and then work only 4 hours on Friday. Nice office space, although no open space to encourage collaboration.

    Cons

Management is constantly on the prowl for ways to save money by either outsourcing or by bringing in contractors. Management is striving to pull select women up into management, which is great if you're a woman. Because of outsourcing, numerous jobs are being lost from the Downers Grove office, but they are kept so quiet that it's hard to tell how many people have been affected.

I worked at HAVI full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Great medical insurance with affordable premiums and low deductibles/OOP max.
    - Accepts degree from any institution, does not have to be esteemed school.
    - Solid pipeline for future Ulta Beauty employees, especially HR associates.
    - Clean office, onsite cafeteria with $4 meal stipend, and fully-stocked supply room.

    Cons

    - Toxic work environment, no employer/employee loyalty, and low satisfaction - all evident in employee survey conducted in late 2017.
    - Revolving door of reorgs. Associates have to re-interview for their jobs. Most recently, US jobs offshored to Poland for cheap labor.
    - Lack of meritocracy; advancement based on who you know and not what you can do. Also, nepotism rampant, especially in summer internship program.
    - Compensation model poor, such as only the Manager band or above is bonusable. Annual increases (if any) do not keep up with local cost of living increases. Total compensation package poor relative to industry/competitors.
    - Business model too dependent on ONE client (McDonald's). When client spends less, all of HAVI is negatively impacted.
    - The "fluff" that once kept employee satisfaction decent has been cut: Happy Meal toys, holiday parties with raffles/gift, one-off performance awards.
    - No diversity demonstrated in leadership (look at their website and see for yourself).
    - No access or open-door policy to leadership, as they sit in an off-limits corner of the highest floor.

    Advice to Management

My how the "mighty" (in HAVI's eyes) have fallen. The downfall began when Doll replaced Musachia so do the math.
    - Stop being petty, from clock-watching lunch to unnecessarily escorting people out the door.
    - Break down silos and collaborate more between departments.
    - Have HR be partners to and fight for associates , instead of just being leadership's police force.
    - Be transparent with organizational change because it's better to hear it from the top than water cooler talk.
    - Expand client portfolio so associates aren't pigeonholed in one system.
    - Diversify: gender, ethnicity, education background, and career history. Too much of the same “mold” at the top (see website and connect the dots).

I have been working at HAVI full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Very Good Salary and Benefits, Insurance is excellent. Very nice HQ

    Cons

Pressure, stress, politics. Company is absolutely terrified of risk, and it makes it a low risk, high blame environment. Jobs are built around people, not functions.

    Advice to Management

Focus on weakness of middle management. Pay attention your existential threats. The company is hijacked by tradition.
