    I worked at HTC full-time

    Pros

Flexible work environment but that also means lack of process and oversight.

    Cons

HTC is no longer a player in the smartphone market and the bet on VR seems to be in need of a few more years of maturity which HTC does not have. AR seems to have the momentum now, evidenced by Facebook's downward price pressure on Oculus

    Advice to Management

Cut the smartphone business and sell the VR business

if you are proactive you can achieve what you want. If you have an idea you can present directly to the leadership.

    Cons

HQ in Taiwan culture is quite hierarchical.

    I worked at HTC full-time

    Pros

Once upon a time it was a great place to work where you could really see the impact of your efforts. It was a dedicated group of people working collaboratively and breaking new ground. The office was always stocked with snacks and drinks. HR made efforts over the years to offer other perks.

    Cons

No vision for how to grow the company and no understanding of how to market or build a brand. Incredibly indecisive CEO and other C-level people and unfortunately no alignment among the C-level team. Now it's just a place (at least on the mobile side) where you're instructed specifically what to go do, and even then, those decisions seem to be bad ones. Not a lot of room for creativity or strategic thinking in the regions.

    Advice to Management

Get a real CEO and commit to the Vive/VR space with someone who knows how to run a company. On the mobile side, be honest with your employees about the future of the company and how it plans to either exist or disappear.

I worked at HTC full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

In the almost 10 years I was at HTC I watched in awe as they build a brand from nothing. When I started HTC was a little know ODM that built devices for other companies and carriers. I got the real life experience to work cross culturally with amazing people.

    Cons

Current management team only listens to what they say and only knows what they hear. There were tons of great people with vison that were chased out of the company as a penny pincher took control and is cost cutting to zero in sales.

    Advice to Management

Clean house and hire a real CEO and CFO with business savvy before the point of no return. This delusion that just one product will save the company is misguided.
