I have been working at High Point Regional Health full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I enjoy the community of High Point, NC. The patient population is underserved and in need of a lot of healthcare. I enjoy taking care of these fine folks.

    Cons

The pay isn't comparable to surrounding areas. We've had a tech position open for a year that no one wants b/c they can go down the street (to a competitor) and make a lot more per hour.

    Advice to Management

Stay current with the surrounding community's rate of pay, not the other hospitals on the other side of the state that you feel are "comparable" to this facility.

I have been working at High Point Regional Health part-time

    Pros

Co-workers and the patients make the day worth it.

    Cons

Scheduling, pay rate and duties put on one person

    Advice to Management

Do things that will make your employees want to stay here. Be more mindful to their life so that they can get the days that they prefer. Have more people scheduled so that the work load wont be all on two people.

    Pros

I love the doctors I work for. They are extremely knowledgable at what they do. The staff in my office is also great.

    Cons

I really can not think of many cons other than the insurance choices for employees. Hopefully a wider selection will be available soon.

I worked at High Point Regional Health full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Very good company to work for. They always tried to be focused on the team, and offered ways to advance or seek higher knowledge.

    Cons

Patient ratio to nurse could always be improved. Also, the average nurse's hourly pay rate could be increased to meet the market and standard of living.

I worked at High Point Regional Health full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Nice people, there are great secretaries, xray techs and nurses here. Lots of great caliber talent who are ripe to be promoted due to the respect they garner from others.

    Cons

The urgent cares are pure crud. They hire poorly trained providers, basically to fill a slot. The good ones leave, the bad ones are fired or promoted.

The office staff is very petty, keep tallies of perceived wrongs and essentially make life living hell for other good people. Bad employees are kept if they just show up.

Management picks favorites on the staff and providers and treats others unfairly.

The pay for physicians is horrible compared to other clinics, urgent cares or health systems (go to Cone, they will pay for good providers).

    Advice to Management

Quit, go away, you are the problem. HP Regional bought out the private practices and then was bought out or "merged" with UNC. The service and quality of care as well as morale is lower than ever.

    Pros

The flexibility of hours and days

    Cons

Working part-time it maybe harder to communicate ideas

    Advice to Management

Encourage your employers to think outside the box. Sometimes your answers are with2

I worked at High Point Regional Health full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Coworkers and some clinical staff, pay

    Cons

Inability of management in Safety and Security to comprehend the need to train and equip Security with more than a uniform, High Point is gripped by a large Heroin epidemic and violent crime in the area is on the rise. Add to that the presence of a behavioral health dept that may house violent individuals who attack staff and other patients, be prepared to keep your own safety in mind as the Hospital has become overly dependent on the High Point Police to handle matters that could easily be handled by a properly trained and certified security dept.( More training than CPI, use of batons and OC Gel training) etc...Very POOR tactical skills. REMEMBER! the security officers (depending of which ones) will always arrive to handle trouble before the police because they are on site,24/7, the police have to be called and may take 3 to 5 minutes..A lot can happen in that time.

    Advice to Management

Follow the lead of the other UNC Hospital security departments...Just because you hire retired law enforcement officers does NOT mean they know how to be proper SECURITY OFFICERS! They fall back on what they know...and those types dont know that protecting the company from liability is our main goal, followed by customer service, and if necessary, dealing with elements that would disrupt the peace and care of patients and staff...Management had good people but failed to utilize their knowledge and skills(based of jealousy and fear?) to improve the department.

    Pros

very friendly people to work with

    Cons

Big influx of New Management who are out of touch with the workers

    Advice to Management

Management should round throughout the facility to get a feel for what the employees need

I worked at High Point Regional Health full-time

    Pros

This is a fun place to work, overall the doctors were pleasant as well as the employees. Easy commute in the town as well.

    Cons

Low Pay. Had to work on the weekends and evenings as well. No upward growth, and no raise. Company was shaky in stability

    Advice to Management

Keep on expanding. The company overall is doing very well. Maybe having a bonus at the end of the year will be helpful for the employees
