Pros
It's a good company to work with.

I think everything is good.

Pros
The people I got to work with were amazing. Great minds, tremendous talent and hard workers. Some became friendly associates, but others became friends who I continue to keep in touch with. Initially, management was also amazing.
Cons
HomeLight experienced a remarkable ascent to prominence, being hailed as not only a great employer, but a company with exceptional service and products. I was privileged to witness the company's peak. Regrettably, however, the simultaneous burst of the housing and tech bubbles proved too much for HomeLight to endure, resulting in significant revenue shortfalls. Subsequently, it became very apparent that certain financial details had been overlooked by upper management and senior executives, catalyzing a catastrophic downward spiral. In an effort to remedy the situation, management was restructured, creating greater issues and reduced communication. Perks were gradually withdrawn and commissions were cut. Thus began the attrition of my fellow associates through a series of layoffs. Initially, twenty percent of the company was affected, followed many additional rounds of layoffs, leaving the remaining staff in a state of uncertainty and anxiety. The company's financial decline was not entirely of their own making, yet they remain accountable for their handling of the situation. Opportunities to reduce expenses and or increase revenue were presented to upper management by various teams, but regrettably, they went unheeded, leaving many former employees feeling disenchanted and frustrated. This unfortunately is how we will remember the company.

Going through a big pivot which has been challenging but overall the future looks bright
Apr 1, 2023 - Anonymous EmployeeRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Lots of smart hardworking people. If you enjoy working as a team, problem solving, and working on the fly you will like it here. If you are looking to just be an individual contributor with very clear roles and responsibilities this may not be for you. We are in the middle of some pretty big pivots and with that comes opportunity but only for people with the right mindset. Management seems to be figuring it out and is making the right moves in order to adapt the company structure and culture to allow us to move quickly and adapt to what the market is demanding. We have a long ways to go but if successful this could be one of the more innovative and influential companies changing the way homes are bought and sold for the better.
Cons
Figuring it out as we go. We are moving very fast. We are having to learn how to do more with less. Can be stressful at times but the company culture is very accepting of mistakes.

I wouldn't recommend a friend but it's an okay place
Jan 21, 2023 - Software EngineerRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
There is opportunity to solve some difficult problems if you are on the right team . Some teams have amazing people who generally care about the well being of the organization.
Cons
Benefits have gotten significantly worse since I joined years ago. I have never seen my feedback actually taken into consideration year over year in surveys. The only feedback I have seen is from the CEO in all hands and it's generally from a perspective that isn't empathic of what his employees value. Turn over has been extremely high from my experience (even before layoffs). It's not a place I value as much as I once did. I have watched some great talent leave HomeLight because of benefits and lack of empathy to employee values or goals. I have wanted to bring on high quality talent but due to my concerns it's been difficult to recruit my peers to HomeLight. Lastly the party culture of this business at events can be unprofessional. You can get a good idea by the other reviews.

Be wary of the positive reviews
May 9, 2023 - Anonymous EmployeeRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
None. This company is a disaster and it ultimately can be traced to poor decisions and management by the C-suite.
Cons
If you read thru the legitimate reviews you will see that the common theme is horrid mangement at all levels. Running around like chickens missing their heads. Poor business decisions along with buying Accept which will be their ultimate downfall as their ideas and products are tetering on not meeting regulations. The last ditch effort is to sell the only product they have left; Buy Before You Sell (a glorified bridge loan) to OTHER mortgage companies, thats how hard up they are to try and stay afloat. Interesting how every poor review that gives indepth insight into to the company is quickly followed with a 5 star review giving no real insight, just trying to hang on to anything to make Homelight look good. Read between the green stars...this company is a poop show.

50% EARNING DECREASE YEAR OVER YEAR
May 24, 2023 - Sales in New York, NYRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Most the team members are really enjoyable people to work with.
Cons
Absolutely going in the wrong direction. Over the past year income has dropped 50% from the same production. There have been three rounds of layoffs. Leadership doesn't understand sales and have changed the comp plan yet again. New comp plan has rolled out this morning, even worse. People will certainly leave, but management doesn't care about our opinions and squeezing every employee to their breaking point. Management is not learning from their mistakes in the past. Team morale is once again very poor.

Pros
Decent tech stack, good PTO, facilities are nice
Cons
The Accept deal The entire out of touch and rude executive leadership team Their products don’t make sense given the current real estate market Lack of cohesive business plan Lack of focus on anything outside of specific states and markets The company all hands felt like a parody of what a tech company is supposed to be like because the leadership would sound THAT out of touch. Run by a bunch of Zuckerberg wannabes who treat employees like numbers while buying out private clubs in Vegas. The fact that there were 5 layoffs in the span of a year.

Pros
Good comp, relaxed hours, and good benefits at first.
Cons
Layed off employees very quickly including someone who started two weeks after they started. Outsourcing jobs to the Philippines. I was only there six months and wouldn't reccomend it. Terrible upper management, incompetent leadership, and a very silo focused organization to the point where you can't even get the necessary logins for several weeks. Focuses way too much on being "sexy" and not maintaining risk, or understand the market. Seems like Drew doesn't understand the basics of economics or m the industry he's trying to change. Real silicon valley (tv show) vibe. If you are considering joining homelight... run!

Great place to work. Great down to earth people. Team environment.
Apr 30, 2023 - Real Estate Analyst in Phoenix, AZRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Good people who look out for each other. Your voice is valued. I was sick and hospitalized for a little over a month and they made sure to check in on me. They helped me get back into the swing of things and made accommodations for me. Unfortunately there was a large layoff shortly after returning to work and I was sad to say goodbye but enjoyed the time I spent there. When we were in the office they provided us with lunch.
Cons
None. The company is really tuned into the needs of their employees

Not sure if there is any hope left
Apr 15, 2023 - Anonymous EmployeeRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
People are competent and great to work with. Office is pretty nice.
Cons
Always chasing shiny objects. Not interested in building scalable or sustainable businesses. Micromanagement at all levels, even from the COO. Management has failed at laying vision for employees to follow during tough times. Rampant favoritism at play across the board. Really unclear why the accept deal happened, and why their leadership team is still here. Could have saved a layoff or two by not purchasing that company.
