    I worked at Infragistics full-time

    Pros

I've never worked with a better group of people. They regularly go above and beyond what's required to help each other get the work done. Everyone cares a lot about doing a high-quality job. Great supportive, team environment, even across multiple countries and time zones.

    Cons

Constantly shifting priorities meant frequent fire drills. Lots of overwork to achieve a goal that was then changed.

    Advice to Management

Pick a course of action and stick to it. Recognize the great work that people are doing to achieve the goals you set out, even if you then change those goals. Try to plan better for long-term results.

  3. "Questionable Investments in Talent"

    Pros

Very relaxed workplace. Low pressure. A lot of people work 10-5.

    People are friendly.

    Casual dress.

The Cranbury office is beautiful and modern. It has nice amenities: pool table, gym, cafeteria, ample meeting space, outdoor space.

    Open PTO policy.

    Cons

Pay is barely market, and raises barely keep up with inflation, but you aren’t doing a ton of work so you could say equal pay for equal work.

There has been a decent amount of mid-level management churn and reorganization, and as a result

Strategy and tactics are not communicated to the workforce. There are definitely some silos.

A lot of the workforce is in Bulgaria and it is challenging to communicate with peers in the same day.

    Advice to Management

Invest in your people and pay them more. Retain your employees. Most investment is into sales and marketing, not building products. Stop letting good employees go because you won’t pay them more. That’s not how you build quality products. The company should stop investing so heavily on their controls and refocus on their other products. The only way the company can survive is to adapt away from the controls market which is drying up.

    I worked at Infragistics full-time

    Pros

Very low pressure job with flexible hours. Casual dress. Free bananas and seltzer water.

    Cons

Not a lot of interesting development work. Bug fix here, bug fix there. Fixing broken products is about 70% of the work, the other 30% is you scrambling to find something productive to do. If you're hungry for knowledge and eager to learn new things, you can probably do a lot better than working here.

Lots of toys like pool table, ping pong table, and basketball hoop, but nobody around to ever part-take in a game! The company definitely has high turnover, and it's US offices are essentially a ghost town. It's not uncommon to take lunch and see absolutely no one in the cafeteria or in the common spaces. Why haven't these things been able to attract more people? Hmm I wonder.

Some genuinely good people still remaining from the glory days, but recruitment for new talent is nonexistent. The good talent that does brave into the offices once in a blue moon never seems stays long, and, it's probably for a good reason.

Don't believe the hype of "open" pto. Anything past two weeks and you will probably need to start looking for a new job.

    Advice to Management

I think the company would do well to bring in some younger managers that have fresh and new ideas. The managerial style of some of the managers I worked with, was just plain archaic. Adopt new techniques or move over and let the young guys have a chance. Are some managers still focusing on hours instead of results? I mean, come on, really?

I have been working at Infragistics full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Nice people and friendly atmosphere. It's a medium-size company with the feeling of a small company. You get to know everyone. Good coworkers. Everyone is friendly.

Low-pressure, relaxed atmosphere. Even the owner/CEO is a friendly, regular guy that you can relate to. Nice, modern office.

Flexible work policies allow working from home. Unlimited vacation day policy, although you feel that you should keep them within reason. Good health insurance benefits at a reasonable price.

    Cons

The location is the biggest disadvantage. It's easy to get to, right off the New Jersey Turnpike, but it's far away from most locations. It's about halfway between New York City and Philadelphia, which makes it a long commute for people from both areas. That makes it hard to attract new employees from those locations.

    I worked at Infragistics full-time

    Pros

    Great co-workers
    Great office space
    Family-friendly surrounding area

    Cons

Company lacks a clear vision. Products are either dated or bloated. Company has too many product lines and the most successful one is in a dying industry. Company has been taken over by management that knows very little about modern software development.

    Advice to Management

Bring in new management with proven software development experience. Cut product lines and focus resources and investment on best opportunities. Realize that your past success means nothing and work closely with customers to build successful products.

    Pros

people are very nice, good at working together
    communal teams
    beautiful office space
multinational teams give experience working with developers around the world

    Cons

housing is tough to get near the Cranbury office, leading to long commute

    Advice to Management

be transparent and give the developers a vote; the more invested developers feel in the company, the more they will take ownership of their work and final product

    Pros

They are among the pioneers in UX / UI area. Have been into business from good old time. Great product line they have for multiple platforms. Support team is really good and is backbone of Infragistics. They have lot of potential to grow in today's market.

    Cons

People without vision create lot of hindrance. No clarity over employee retention. No defined policies for smaller territories. Also need to work more on open source / Android side.

    Advice to Management

Remove people without vision from management, have frequent open sessions with employees across the globe, pay attention to team members rather than just counting on management of respective area.

    Pros

If you want to work with some of the most kindest, intuitive, and smartest people you'll ever meet in the corporate workplace, this is the place to be. Not just in their US office, but globally as well in Bulgaria, Uruguay, UK, India, and Japan.

The User Experience and Marketing groups has very creative people with unique and outside-the-box ideas adding to the value of the organization.

There is an employee who genuinely cares about collaboration and wears her heart on her sleeve who might ask you to play games with her crew during lunch and welcomes you to the organization on your first day with open arms.

The sales group, if provided the tools and resources, have the ability to become superstars because they are engaged and genuine.

And there is an "Angel" in the organization who brings out the best in people and contributes heavily to the overall culture.

Beyond the people, there is a nice building with plenty of amenities, fitness center, basketball court, ping pong table, pool table, video games, cafe, parties, and fun events.

    Cons

Every business has it's ups and downs. If you can focus on the positives and the amazing people, it's easy to overlook some of the cons!!!

    Advice to Management

Appreciate the amazing talent in the organization and allow them to grow in their careers which will impact the future of the company and it's bottom line.
